Massive forest fires are raging on the popular Greek holiday island of Rhodes. Thousands of locals and tourists, including many German vacationers, had to flee the flames over the weekend. Due to this current occasion, RTL and ZDF are changing their program this Monday (July 24) and are broadcasting special programs on the fire disaster.
At 7:20 p.m., “Fire in the holiday paradise – major fire on Rhodes” will be broadcast on ZDF. In the 15-minute “ZDF special” moderator Antje Pieper (54) provides information about the largest evacuation campaign in the history of Greece. Both the tense situation – also in other regions of the country – and the situation of the many holidaymakers on site are addressed.
The Cologne broadcaster RTL will also broadcast a 15-minute special from 8:15 p.m. In “RTL Aktuell Spezial: Fire in the holiday paradise – vacationers fleeing”, moderator Peter Kloeppel (64) speaks to reporters about the situation on Rhodes and in the island’s emergency shelters. Travel expert Ralf Benkö also provides information on the rights travelers have in the event of a natural disaster.
