The preparation for the upcoming coronation of King Charles III. (74) and his wife Camilla (75) on May 6, 2023 are in full swing. Now the designer seems to have been found who will take care of the Queen Consort’s outfit. According to “The Sun”, Camilla chose Bruce Oldfield (72), with whom she has had a “close friendship” for years and who was once Princess Diana’s (1961-1997) favorite designer.

Oldfield reportedly designed some of Diana’s most iconic dresses in the ’80s, with whom he is also said to have been close friends. Hollywood stars like Kim Kardashian (42), Rihanna (35) and Taylor Swift (33) also wear his creations.

A source told the outlet: “Camilla trusts Bruce because he’s really been supplying dresses for her for so many important occasions lately.” It was “obvious” that he was chosen. Details of Camilla’s outfit are not yet known.

What is certain, however, is which crown Camilla will wear at the ceremony on May 6th. As the palace recently announced, her head will adorn Queen Mary’s crown. This was made in 1911 for the wife of the British King George V (1865-1936). Maria von Teck (1867-1953), like Camilla, was crowned king’s wife at her husband’s side.

Camilla’s decision to wear Queen Mary’s crown on her head marks a certain break with British royal tradition. For the first time in almost three centuries, no new crown will be commissioned for the coronation of a royal consort. According to the Palace, Camilla has arranged this for reasons of sustainability and efficiency.
