At the end of 2023, the famous red goblin returned to the screen in the RTL series “New Stories from Pumuckl” – and with success. The new edition of the original series from the 1980s was recently nominated for the Grimme Prize 2024. Florian Brückner (born 1984) takes on the new role of Master Eder’s nephew, who was portrayed in the original by Gustl Bayrhammer (1922-1993). He inherits his uncle’s old carpenter’s workshop and experiences an equally fateful encounter with Pumuckl. The best reactions to his role came from his children, Florian Brückner explained on Saturday (January 20th) at the German Film Ball in an interview with spot on news.
“For me, the most important thing for all the burden of being away from home for so long was that they were compensated for it. The fact that they were proud of their dad was the best thing for me,” explained the actor. “They particularly liked the fact that Pumuckl always annoys me and that they always have excuses for doing that,” Brückner added with a laugh.
The actor said that he had often been addressed as Master Eder on the street, which he found “very nice” and a “huge compliment.” Of course, the comparison was made to the original with Gustl Bayrhammer, but his intention was always to continue telling the story to a different generation and perhaps also reach children who were not yet familiar with the format.
Brückner went on to say that he would definitely be interested in a sequel. “The stories will never be finished, there are still so many ideas, that’s what’s exciting about it.” When asked whether there were already plans, the actor explained briefly: “I’m not saying anything negative now.” He wanted to enjoy the evening at the German Film Ball in Munich without any pranks from Pumuckl. “I hope he’s content with the chocolate in the hotel room, that’s what we agreed on. I’m the new Master Eder now, maybe he’ll listen to me better.”
