The director Rosa von Praunheim hopes to be able to implement one of his heart projects. “I have at least 20 projects, some of which have already been developed, but have never found funding,” he told the German Press Agency. “The most urgent thing is ‘Twenty Years on the Whip’ about a dominatrix who practiced for twenty years in the rental building where I live.” He made friends with her.

“I always sent my students there and said: ‘You will have to suffer a lot as directors, but try to suffer with joy,'” said von Praunheim. The students were then explained how electric shocks and testicular nailing worked. “And then they had to go to my apartment and write with this emotionality.”

Students with Abitur have no feeling, said von Praunheim, they are scientifically trained. “I always have to teach them what feelings are. Because film is not thoughts in pictures, but feelings in pictures”. Von Praunheim (“Rex Gildo – The Last Dance”) turns 80 this Friday (November 25th). The filmmaker, author and artist lives in Berlin.
