French actress Justine Triet’s drama “Anatomy of a Case” won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The story about a successful writer under suspicion of murder stars Sandra Hülser in the lead role.
The main character, also named Sandra, is accused of killing her husband in their house. But the case is not clear. The couple has a blind boy who was believed to be out of the house at the time of the incident. The film takes place partly in a courtroom. Sandra’s novels are used as evidence in court. The case is being dissected in the media.

“Dumb Money” – Quick Money: Financial satire with a star cast
The American Keith Gill, a YouTuber known as “Roaring Kitty”, stirred up the financial world in January 2021. Small investors followed his tips, bought the shares of the video game retailer Gamestop, which suddenly shot up, and hobby investors cashed in. Rich hedge fund managers, on the other hand, who bet on a price decline suffered billions in losses.
This is the material for the fast-paced financial satire “Dumb Money” with a top-class cast including Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, America Ferrera and Shailene Woodley. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie, who previously directed the ice skating drama I, Tonya.

“My Son, the Soldier”: war drama with actor Omar Sy
Paris (dpa) – The young Senegalese Thierno is forcibly recruited by the French army in 1917. He is supposed to fight on the battlefields of France during the First World War. In order to protect Thierno, his father Bakary volunteers for military service. He wants to bring his 17-year-old son back to his home country unharmed – whatever the cost.
In “My Son, the Soldier”, director Mathieu Vadepied looks at the fate of thousands of Africans who were drafted into the war for the colonial power – and thus at a chapter in history that is often kept secret.
