Hollywood star Penélope Cruz wants to try her hand at directing at some point. “It’s something I really want to do. I’ve been thinking about it every day since I was 16,” said the Oscar winner (“Vicky Cristina Barcelona”) from Spain in an interview with Spanish television station RTVE.

At the very beginning of her career, she told the Spanish star director Pedro Almodóvar that she would like to direct. At the time, he advised her not to wait too long. “But I told him that I would at least wait until I was 50, and that’s probably how it will be now,” revealed the 48-year-old.

The Alcobendas near Madrid actress’s latest film, the Spanish-Belgian thriller ‘On the Fringe’, opens in Spain on Thursday after screenings at this year’s Venice and San Sebastián film festivals. The wife of the Spanish Oscar winner Javier Bardem (53), with whom she has two children, was not only active as an actress but also as a producer. The strip will be shown on the streaming service Amazon Prime Video.
