The royal family around King Charles III. (73) gathered in London’s Royal Albert Hall yesterday evening for the traditional Festival of Remembrance. The event commemorates all those who lost their lives for Britain and the Commonwealth in wars and other conflicts. Charles attended the memorial service for the first time as monarch since the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). King consort Camilla (75), Prince William (40), Princess Kate (40), Princess Anne (72) and other members of the royal family were also present at the event, which has been held for almost 100 years.
During the event, a video clip of the late Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) was played in the Royal Albert Hall. In it she speaks of the “enormous contribution” made by the British armed forces to the “prestige and reputation” of Great Britain during her reign. This is reported by the “BBC”. With King Charles and his siblings Princess Anne and Prince Edward (58), three of the four children of the monarch who died in September were present. Attendees at the event, hosted by the Royal British Legion, wore the traditional red poppy badges, symbolizing the memory of deceased members of the military.
This Sunday, the royals will gather around King Charles again. The monarch is to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph War Memorial for the Remembrance Day service, dedicated to the late Queen Elizabeth II and her father, King George VI. (1895-1952). The royals will inspect a parade of 10,000 veterans at the cenotaph.
