Gen Z has launched a new trend via TikTok, which also consists of a top and pants – but clearly expresses that styling has moved away from the Millennial generation’s understanding of fashion.
But what do teenagers or early to mid-twenties wear instead of jeans in combination with a top for everyday life or for going out in the evening? The new trend look consists of wide statement pants in combination with a simple, often cropped top.
Model and entrepreneur Hailey Bieber (26) does it on a shopping spree with husband Justin Bieber (29). The 26-year-old wears light brown, ultra-wide-leg pleated pants in combination with a plain, cropped white T-shirt. In addition, she combines reserved but stylish accessories such as a black handle bag, a filigree gold chain and glittering earrings in the Y2K style.

But it doesn’t matter whether it’s extravagantly colorful or in muted, reserved colors: the styling rule for the trendy top-trousers combination is always wide at the bottom, narrow at the top. According to this, wide pants and single-colored tops should now be present in every summer wardrobe.
