Stars like actress Penélope Cruz and musician Dua Lipa are said to be co-hosts at this year’s Met Gala.

The star-studded gala traditionally takes place on the first Monday in May at New York’s Metropolitan Museum. Vogue boss Anna Wintour, actress Michaela Coel and tennis star Roger Federer are also said to be honorary organizers, as the Museum in Central Park in Manhattan announced on Wednesday.

Often dubbed the “Party of the Year,” the Met Ball is an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute. The annual budget of the institute, which is now named after Wintour, is estimated at millions of dollars from the “Costume Institute Benefit”.

This year, the gala is to open an exhibition about the fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019. Around 150 works by the Hamburg-born designer will be on display in the “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” show.
