The MTV Europe Music Awards in Düsseldorf are characterized by a superstar duel: Harry Styles has been nominated for seven awards, closely followed by Taylor Swift with six nominations. Hot on their heels are Nicki Minaj and Rosalía with five nominations each.
After ten years, the presentation of the MTV Europe Music Awards returns to the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia on Sunday (November 13). Music fans in more than 170 countries can follow the international music event with the presentation of the coveted trophies live on television in Düsseldorf. Up to 8,000 spectators will follow the events in the hall, the PSD Bank Dome.
The MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) have been presented annually since 1994. Previous awards in Germany took place in Berlin (1994, 2009), Frankfurt (2001, 2012) and Munich (2007).
Rita Ora and Taika Waititi will moderate
The show is moderated by a duo: British singer Rita Ora, who as a singer-songwriter herself has over ten billion worldwide streams, and New Zealand film director and comedian Taika Waititi.
Among others, David Guetta, Lewis Capaldi, Muse and OneRepublic will perform, as the organizers revealed. David Hasselhoff is also expected.
Badmómzjay, Kontra K, Giant Rooks, Leony and Nina Chuba can hope for the best German act.
Fans had until November 9th to vote for their favourites. The two most important categories are “Best Song” and “Best Artist”.
