Surprisingly, the US broadcaster NBC announced on its website on Monday that Duchess Meghan (41) will be a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s (48) “Tonight Show” on December 7th. But her friend – and unofficial spokesman – Omid Scobie (41) denied the news shortly afterwards.
On his Twitter page, Scobie wrote: “Looks like someone at NBC didn’t get the memo! Despite an announcement through various PR channels, Meghan will not be appearing on ‘Tonight Show’.”
According to the original NBC article – which has since been deleted – the Duchess was set to open up about her recent projects as well as the Sussexes’ upcoming Netflix documentary. A rep for NBC also told The Sun in a statement: “Today it was incorrectly reported that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, will appear on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on December 7th.”
Almost three months ago, the Duchess of Sussex canceled a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show following the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) on September 8th. She was due to appear on the talk show on September 20 – the day after the Queen’s funeral.
Meanwhile, the remaining royals around King Charles III. (74) on the Netflix documentary of the Sussexes, which according to insiders should be released before the end of the year.
It was also announced over the weekend that Prince Harry (38) and his wife Meghan will receive an award for their commitment to “structural racism” in the royal family at a glamorous award ceremony. In the justification, the Brit and the American were praised as “heroic” because they question the “power structure” of the family.
They will receive the Ripple of Hope award at a lavish ceremony in New York, where tables will sell for up to $1 million. The award recognizes “exemplary leaders” who have shown “unwavering commitment” to driving social change.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (44) will also receive an award at the ceremony on December 6th.
