Duchess Meghan (42) and husband Prince Harry (39) paid another visit to New York City. The couple arrived for their Archewell Foundation summit on Tuesday (October 10). The parent summit on World Mental Health Day is intended to help families manage children’s mental health and well-being in the digital age, it was previously announced. Families have been working with the Archewell Foundation for a year “to strengthen the community and advance solutions,” a spokesperson for the Sussexes told People magazine.
Meghan arrived at the appointment at Hudson Yards in Manhattan in an elegant all-white look. This included an off-the-shoulder Altuzarra blazer and wide-leg pants. She had pulled her hair back into a bun, with individual strands framing her face. Harry wore a dark blue suit with a white shirt and a dark blue tie.
“I want to start by thanking all the parents, the mothers and fathers, for being here with us, not just physically, but also on this journey over the last year, creating this community of shared experiences,” explained the 39-year-old year olds at the summit. “We know it’s not easy for you to be here, so thank you.” Meghan, in turn, revealed that she became emotional at some of the stories from parents who “suffered a tragic loss related to their child’s use of social media” during their first meeting. “A year ago, when we met some of the families, it was impossible not to burst into tears, as I’m sure many of you did today when you heard these stories.”
She further explained that being the mother of Archie and Lilibet is the most important thing in her life, “apart from being a wife to this man. […] Our children are still very young, they are two and a half and four and a half Years old, but social media isn’t going away. I’m happy that our children are at an age where this isn’t in our immediate future, but I’m also frightened at how the situation continues to change.”
According to the British Daily Mail, Harry and Meghan were accompanied to the summit in a convoy of seven darkened vehicles. The last trip to New York caused quite a stir due to a paparazzi incident. In May, the Sussexes came to the “Women of Vision” gala, where Meghan received an award. At the time, their stay was marred by what a spokesman for the couple described as “a near-disastrous chase by a group of extremely aggressive paparazzi.” Whether the scenes were really as dangerous as the Sussexes described was hotly debated afterwards. According to the spokesman, the car in which the couple and Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland (67) were sitting was followed for more than two hours. However, her driver contradicted this account.
Before attending the summit, Harry and Meghan, this time in casual looks, paid a visit to the Marcy Lab School in Brooklyn. Meghan wore a black top and jeans, a college jacket that she received from a debate team at a school in Great Britain in March 2020. According to the Daily Mail, this was the 42-year-old’s last solo performance before Megxit.
“Today we were delighted to welcome Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to campus to meet the Fall 2023 and Spring 2023 scholarship recipients,” said an Instagram post Marcy Lab School, a college alternative institution. “For the past year, we have been working with the Archewell Foundation, which shares our mission to build a better online world.”
