Former US President Donald Trump (76) is suing the news channel CNN. His accusation: The channel slandered him for fear of running for president again. According to TMZ, Trump has filed a lawsuit at the federal level. According to court documents available to the portal, CNN has “spread defamatory rhetoric” about him “in recent years.”

Accordingly, CNN described him as a “racist”, “Russian lackey” and “rebel” and compared him to Adolf Hitler. Specifically, the lawyers refer to the expression “the big lie”, which has been used several times. This was dropped during Trump’s challenge to the 2020 election results, but was in fact an unwarranted reference to Hitler. In order to fuel hatred of the Jews and to justify the Holocaust, he kept babbling about a Jewish world conspiracy – often referred to in English as “The Big Lie”.

The lawsuit further states, “CNN not only attempted to highlight all negative information about the plaintiff and ignore all positive information about him, but also to use his massive influence – allegedly as a ‘trusted’ news source – to put the plaintiff in in the minds of his viewers and readers in order to defeat him politically.”

Thus, the boundary between news and opinion has been blurred. Donald Trump is demanding $475 million in damages. So far, there has been no statement from the US broadcaster CNN on the Trump lawsuit.
