Country legend Dolly Parton (77) has been happily married for 57 years. The singer is about to celebrate her diamond wedding with her husband Carl Dean (81) in a few years. Parton has now revealed the secret to her happy marriage in a BBC radio show. “We are open and honest with each other and both have a quirky sense of humor,” she said on Zoe Ball’s (52) “Radio 2 Breakfast Show” on Thursday (November 9th), according to the Daily Mail.
A good portion of fun and humor is what makes everyday life sweeter. Her husband, whom she met in a laundromat in Nashville in 1964, was “crazy, very funny and clever. And I got a great sense of humor from both sides of my family,” said the “Jolene” singer.
In addition, loving and respectful interaction with one another has always been the basis for the couple’s relationship. The 77-year-old can still rely on her husband’s honest opinion. Dean always tells her the truth, but never phrases it “in a cruel way.”
Parton recently asked her husband what he thought of her latest album. When she played it for him, the singer said she was “a little nervous.” But then he explained: “It’s really good,” which “meant the world” to Parton. In this case, the praise of her always sincere husband was equivalent to another person “jumping up and down”.
Dolly Parton and Carl Dean have been a couple for 59 years. Two years after they met, they tied the knot and celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on May 30 this year.
Husband Carl Dean mostly stays out of the public eye. However, the godmother of pop star Miley Cyrus (30) shared some photos with her husband on Instagram.
