As an actor, Keanu Reeves inspires fans – not only with his films. The 58-year-old, known from the “Matrix” and “John Wick” film series, has no scandals in his vita, but always behaves humorously, courteously and approachably. That earns him a lot of sympathy. What most fans don’t know, however, is that the Canadian was a musician before he got off to a big start in Hollywood.
In the ’90s, Reeves played bass in the grunge band Dogstar, which released an EP and two albums. The four-piece from Los Angeles even performed at the legendary British festival in Glastonbury, supporting Bon Jovi. You could soon hear from the band with the now world-famous Hollywood star again: The plans for a comeback after more than 20 years are becoming more and more concrete, the band will probably be releasing new songs soon.
There have been rumors about this for a long time, and an Instagram post showing the band members at a photo shoot is fueling the rumor mill. “Exciting news coming soon. Thanks for being so patient,” the group wrote. Already last year she had announced that a new album was not only in the making, but already on the home stretch. There was even a concert.
Dogstar released their last album to date in 2000. But as Reeves’ acting career took off, he focused on his Hollywood schedule. In 1997 he turned down a multi-million dollar role offer in order to be able to tour with Dogstar. At the latest with the first “Matrix” film, in which he played the main role of Neo, the music took a back seat. Dogstar played concerts until 2002, then the band broke up.
After that, Reeves played in another band, but soon left when they wanted to go on tour – a date that was not compatible with his filming. Given its fame, however, Dogstar should be prepared for a lot more attention than they did in the 1990s when they make a comeback.
