After several months of legal dispute, there has been a surprising settlement in the divorce of Kevin Costner (68) and his former partner, Christine Baumgartner (49). According to a report by the US celebrity portal “TMZ”, the “divorce war” between the actor and his ex is “now history”.
Baumgartner allegedly agreed to the terms of a three-page letter over the weekend. Nothing is known about the details of the agreement, but a spokesman for the Hollywood star confirmed the development. “Kevin and Christine Costner have come to an amicable and mutually agreed decision on all matters relating to their divorce proceedings,” said a statement from both parties, which was obtained by US magazine People.
At the beginning of May it was announced that the couple was divorcing after around 18 years of marriage. A spokesman for the actor confirmed this to TMZ and said in a statement that Costner regretted the situation. The circumstances that led to the filing for divorce were beyond his control. Baumgartner filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason.
The Hollywood star is represented by the famous US divorce lawyer Laura Wasser (55). Baumgartner in particular suffered defeats in court recently. According to media reports, she not only had to move out of their shared house following a court order, but was also only supposed to receive just under $63,000 per month in support for their three children. Baumgartner had originally asked for between around $160,000 and $175,000.
