While Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019) is being celebrated on a grand scale at the Met Gala in New York, Hollywood star Diane Kruger (46) sent him a small and personal message to heaven on Instagram. There the actress from Hildesheim wrote in German:
“Dear Karl, so many people are showing you tonight how much you mean to them and how much you have shaped the world with your creations and your genius. I hope you look amused from fashion heaven. I miss you. Yours the most Humor and your presence. How nice that we knew each other…. I hope the angels are better dressed since you’ve been up there.”
In addition to sharing the same mother tongue, Kruger and Lagerfeld were also linked by a long-standing, close friendship. As she reported some time ago on the US talk show “People Now”, they even lived next door to each other for a few years: “He was also my neighbor in Paris, and we have met two or three times in the last twenty years seen of the week.”
She has unforgettable memories of the fashion designer who died in 2019. “He was very eccentric and very funny but also very sweet,” gushed the ex-model. “We always spoke German and that’s why we had a special bond, because nobody could understand us”.
