It’s not just the window sill that invites you to decorate: the glass fronts can also be artistically decorated in just a few simple steps. You don’t even have to spend any money, as long as you have paper and scissors, a pencil and scotch tape handy. Here you can even actively involve your children, who can let their creativity run wild by making window pictures. And even if you don’t have the right accessories at hand, there are a variety of great decorative elements on the internet that will create winter window decorations. Depending on which option you choose, you will have to help a little with the implementation. Below we present a few design ideas to you.
This craft tip is very easy and cheap too: all you need to make snowflakes is a white sheet of paper and a pair of scissors and a pencil. In order to then stick the window pictures to the windows, you will need some adhesive tape. If you would rather cut out colored snowflakes, you can of course also use colorful construction paper. How you can create small works of art from a sheet in just a few minutes is explained in the following video:
This video clearly explains how to make snowflakes.
And another tip: There are also self-adhesive window stickers in a snowflake design that you can easily attach to the window. Various sizes are included in this 108-piece set.
The following design ideas offer at least as much fun for young and old: chalk pencils and window color. The former has the advantage that the winter window decoration is just as easy to attach as it is to wipe off. The liquid chalk in the pens sticks particularly well to smooth surfaces such as glass, so you can be creative. Alternatively, the removable window paints are particularly practical for creating your own pictures and then sticking them on the glass.
When it comes to window decorations for the winter, the windows don’t necessarily have to be decorated. The window sill is also suitable. There you can, for example, place decorative elements such as vases in cold blue tones to suit the season. They work alone, but can also be filled with decorative elements: artificial magnolias or branches, flowering twigs or pussy willows visually enhance any vase even more.
Even though furniture stores are currently closed, you can still shop online for window decorations for the winter. Geometric shapes, reindeer heads, lamps and fruit bowls made of steel are particularly suitable for this, as they are particularly effective in the winter months – despite the cold color. Especially when they are filled with “life” (i.e. candles or fruit).
A classic in winter is the poinsettia, which decorates countless windows when it is cold and uncomfortable outside. It doesn’t matter whether it’s made of wood or paper – the only important thing is that the star contains a small LED lamp so that you can make it shine at any time when darkness sets in. In this model, the light is even controlled via a remote control, so you can activate the string of lights it contains from a distance.
Or you can make your own paper stars out of construction paper: Here, too, there are a variety of winter motifs that are ideal for decorative window pictures.
