Damian Lewis (52) returns to “Billions”. After a one-season hiatus, the actor will be making a comeback as Robert “Bobby” Axelrod in the seventh season of the Wall Street series. Lewis revealed this in an interview with Stephen Colbert (58) on his late night show.

“Bobby is back. He’s coming back,” Damian Lewis promised fans on the show. “It’s exciting, he wasn’t there for a couple of seasons.” When the time comes, the actor could not or did not want to reveal. The Brit also did not say whether it was a guest appearance or a regular comeback.

Of course, Damian Lewis exaggerated the “a few seasons” that Bobby didn’t appear on “Billions.” The criminal hedge fund manager left the series at the end of the fifth season in autumn 2021. Only one season has passed since then.

Lewis said goodbye in 2021 with an emotional tweet. “It has been a pleasure and privilege to play Ax for 5 seasons alongside some of the smartest, funniest and most talented cast and staff I have ever worked with,” he wrote in the tweet. “I will miss the ‘Billions’ family. Yep, some jobs are more than just a job… love.”

Damian Lewis wanted to step back and take care of his family. His wife Helen died of cancer in April 2021. He also revealed to the “New York Times” that he felt a little tired of the character of Bobby.

The broadcaster Showtime has also announced the comeback of Bobby Axelrod. “Alliances will be turned upside down,” the text of the announcement also says. “Old wounds become weapons. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal reaches epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends.”
