Five U.S. Navy sailors went missing last week when the helicopter in which they were riding crashed into the San Diego waters.
Fox News was informed by a Coast Guard spokesperson that the agency had stopped its search efforts one day earlier. The Coast Guard stated that it was supporting the Navy in its search efforts, and had not been conducting another search.
The MH-60S helicopter was conducting flight operations aboard USS Abraham Lincoln. It plummeted into water at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Navy continues its search for the five sailors.
One sailor, in addition to the five who were missing, was also rescued and brought ashore. Five other people sustained minor injuries but were stable.
Friday’s statement by the Navy’s Third Fleet stated that search efforts are still ongoing.
The Navy stated that the USS Abraham Lincoln was still at sea in support of the search efforts.
