The US rapper 50 Cent started his small Germany tour in Hamburg.
According to the organizers, more than 8,500 fans came to the almost sold-out Barclays Arena on Saturday to listen to hits like “In Da Club”, “P.I.M.P.” and singing along to “Outta Control”. The performance in the Hanseatic city was the first of three Germany concerts as part of his “Green Light Gang World Tour”. The 47-year-old will still be on stage in Stuttgart and Munich in October.
The show in Hamburg was opened by Bonn rapper Sugar MMFK. “I still can’t believe it. It’s like an accolade for me,” said the 29-year-old of the German Press Agency. “He’s my big hip-hop hero!”
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is considered one of the most successful rappers in the world. His breakthrough came in 2003 with the album Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which sold millions of copies. The autobiographical film of the same name was released in 2006.
