As an artist, Kaya Yanar is dependent on taking care of his own money and, in particular, his retirement provisions. But the comedian (“What are you looking at?!”) Apparently he hasn’t had much luck with attempts to increase his fortune. “Whenever I tried to increase my money, I was somehow punished for it,” he admits on his Instagram channel and reveals a story of how he failed with an investment.
He was approached by a friend about an investment opportunity, according to Yanar: The “good friend and then not so good friend anymore” is someone he trusts and who also knows something about finances. The offer sounded tempting: Yanar was supposed to lend money to a company his acquaintance worked with – and didn’t have to do anything else. Unfortunately, things went haywire.
Yanar pumped 100,000 euros of his fortune into the company, which makes blow molding machines. These are devices that can be used to produce plastic bottles, for example, Yanar explains in the clip. The company wanted to use the money to build a prototype. But the comedian was unlucky with his investment, the company went bankrupt. “I lost a lot of money,” Yanar admits.
Yanar can now laugh about his mistake himself: The blow molding machine now belongs to him and is located in a workshop. “Now I have such a device with which I can produce 10,000 plastic bottles a day,” he says ironically. Because of his poor financial investments, he regularly has to be teased by his wife, the Swiss dressage rider Josepine Rosen. The couple now lives in Switzerland. After all: The 49-year-old is currently on tour with his program “Family Curse” and has the opportunity to recover at least part of the money there.
