Superstar Ryan Reynolds (46) is currently in front of the camera for the eagerly awaited sequel “Deadpool 3”. It was already known last year that Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman (54) will once again extend his adamantium-proven claws for the third part of the film series about the loud-mouthed title hero.
As the industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter” has now found out, Hollywood star Jennifer Garner (51) will also play a “significant role” in “Deadpool 3”. Garner will again embody the Marvel character Elektra in the superhero blockbuster – as before in the works “Daredevil” (2003) with Ben Affleck (50) and her own solo film “Elektra” from 2005. The latter flopped with a box office result of just $57 million at the box office.
Like Wolverine, Elektra is one of a number of Marvel characters originally owned by the 20th Century Fox studio. This also produced the first two “Deadpool” films with Ryan Reynolds, which were released in 2016 and 2019. After Disney bought the traditional film studio in 2019, the rights went back to the owner of Marvel Studios.
However, none of the characters mentioned have appeared in the so-called Marvel Cinematic Universe. The “Hollywood Reporter” speculates that “Deadpool 3” could be another multiverse superhero film that is currently trending. If this is indeed the case, viewers may be able to expect appearances from other Marvel characters.
According to the current status, “Deadpool 3” is scheduled to be released in German cinemas on May 1, 2024.
