Music legend Cher (77) is breaking new ground professionally. As the singer announced via Twitter, she is entering the ice cream business. In addition, she posts a video on the short message service that shows an ice cream truck with her likeness and the brand name “Cherlato” – a neologism of cher and gelato, the Italian term for ice cream. Of course, her mega hit “Believe” is playing in the background.
“Yes, it’s true… I’m launching my ice cream…” she comments on the post. It all started five years ago and is now actually happening. She hasn’t revealed any more information, except that her fans in Los Angeles should keep their eyes open.
Things had quieted down around Cherilyn Sarkisian, as Cher’s real name is. Her last studio album “Dancing Queen”, consisting of ABBA cover songs, was released in 2018. Her last engagement as an actress dates from the same year. At that time she worked alongside numerous superstars such as Meryl Streep (74), Colin Firth (62) and Pierce Brosnan (70) in the successful ABBA film musical “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”.
In the spring of 2023, the singer stated that new songs from her were in the pipeline. Together with her boyfriend at the time, the music manager and rapper Alexander Edwards (37), who was around 40 years her junior, she was working on two new albums. She revealed this in an interview with “E! News” in March 2023. An associated tour is also planned for 2023. A few weeks later, in May 2023, however, it was announced that the two should have split up despite previous engagement rumors. It is not yet known whether the joint professional project was put on hold as a result. Neither the tour nor new music has been officially announced at the moment.
