When it comes to choosing a perfume, you often go for a branded product. Because it already has a good reputation and you know what you’re getting. In addition, fragrances from Gucci, Versace, Dior and Co. are usually of high quality and attractively packaged and also make a good decorative element in the bathroom. However, if you only like the scent of the perfume, you can also use perfume dupes: Fragrance twins usually cost significantly less than the brand models, but smell very similar or even the same.
Fragrance twins or perfume dupes are fragrances that are based on branded products. They have similar or in some cases even identical scent notes to their well-known role models. From the scent alone, the dupes can be confused with their well-known counterparts, i.e. they can be twins. But the first big difference is the price: This is due to the different ingredients, among other things. More expensive branded perfumes usually use long-lasting, natural perfume oils. Fragrance twins often feature synthetic fragrances. They usually don’t last that long.
The second difference lies in the look: branded products usually attract attention with an attractively decorated, high-quality bottle, which of course makes a great decorative element in the bathroom. With perfume dupes, on the other hand, the look is usually very simple and unobtrusive. In addition to costs for packaging and design, marketing and advertising costs are often not incurred with fragrance twins. Therefore, they are usually much cheaper than the big, well-known role models.
So if you are primarily looking for the scents of a well-known perfume and want to save money, the easiest way to search for the fragrances on the Internet is to find cheap counterparts. There are now even several fragrance twins to choose from for popular fragrances. We’ve tracked down some familiar ones.
“La vie est belle” by Lancome is one of the most popular fragrances among women. It’s sweet and floral. “Queen of life” by La Rive comes very close to this classic, but smells a little less sweet. Although it does not last as long as its well-known twin, it is extremely cheap: 75 ml of the fragrance costs just under six euros.
There are many different fragrance twins from L’Arisé, for example. The packaging and bottle look unspectacular, but the scents are always close to the brand original. The fragrance number 040 is a perfume alternative to the Dior classic “Hypnotic Poison”. The base note is reminiscent of almond, vanilla and sandalwood and exudes an oriental feeling. According to many user reviews, the fragrance alternatives from L’Arisé are characterized by a long shelf life.
If you like a woody, tart scent, you might like the “One Million” Eau de Parfum by Paco Rabanne. The inexpensive counterpart to the men’s fragrance 3uft classic is called “Cash Man” and comes from La Rive. The fragrance twin smells very similar and comes with almost identical scents.
When it comes to perfumes for men, “Boss Bottled” by Hugo Boss is a real hit. It is characterized by its spicy and sparkling note. The Eau de Parfum Éclat 635 comes very close to this fragrance composition. However, according to user reviews, the scent dissipates much faster – but it also costs significantly less than the brand model.
In most cases, the cheaper fragrance alternatives certainly don’t last as long on the skin as the branded versions – you have to know that when you buy them. Tip: On the other hand, the scents last longer on clothing. In terms of intensity, many fragrance twins can probably not keep up with the original. Nevertheless, perfume dupes are a good alternative for anyone who likes to smell the original fragrances but does not want to spend too much money on a fragrance. When buying, you should always check whether all the fragrances of the well-known model are really there, so that you can be sure that the eau de parfum does not suddenly smell completely different when it is unfolded.
Fragrance twins are usually just similar fragrances of a branded role model and do not advertise that they smell like a specific fragrance. They also do not pretend to be the same brand or use the same name and do not want to imitate the original with packaging or bottles. It is clear that this is another brand that has developed a similar fragrance. So buying such products is by no means illegal. Sometimes you just have to compromise on quality – and sometimes you’re surprised and get a lot for little money.
