Actress Carol Locatell (1940-2023) has succumbed to her long battle with cancer. The American actress is best known for her portrayal of the vulgar mother Ethel Hubbard in the 1985 horror film ‘Friday the 13th: A New Beginning’. It was the fifth installment in the Friday the 13th horror film series. Locatell died April 11 at her home in Sherman Oaks, aged 82.
Locatell’s longtime agent, Peter Strain, told Entertainment Weekly in a statement on behalf of her family: “Carol Locatell passed away from cancer last week. She was a wonderfully versatile actress whose career spanned decades on Broadway, feature films and television She was surrounded by her longtime husband and close friends.”
Even Ron Sloan, who appeared in “Friday the 13th.” played her film son Junior, she acknowledged in a statement on his Facebook page: “Dear friends, fans and horror family, even if it breaks my heart, it is with great sadness that I have to announce that my ‘Friday the 13th – part 5’ mother Carol Locatell passed away. She battled cancer for many years. Most of that time I thought she was going to kick cancer because she was such a badass lady.”
Locatell has been involved in more than 70 film and television productions. Even in old age she was still active. In 2019, at the age of 78, she starred in the series “Shameless”. She has also appeared in well-known series such as “MASH”, “Ally McBeal”, “Mad Men”, “Scandal”, “NCIS” and “Grey’s Anatomy”.
