Andre Agassi (52) really freaked out after the famous guest appearance of his then partner Brooke Shields (57) in “Friends”. Shields played the stalker Erika, who pursues Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc, 55), in a 1996 episode of the cult series. Erika believes Joey is really the surgeon Dr. Drake Ramoray is who he embodies in the soap opera “Days of Our Lives”. On a date in a restaurant, she licks the alleged doctor’s gifted fingers.
Brooke Shields recalled that moment in an interview with The New Yorker. After this scene, Andre Agassi stormed out of the studio in a rage. By the time the couple got home, the tennis player “smashed all his trophies,” according to Shields. “Everyone makes fun of me,” Agassi shouted. “You ridiculed me with this behavior”. “It’s just comedy,” Shields countered.
Brooke Shields later learned that Andre Agassi was using crystal meth during this time. She explains his freak out with the drug abuse at the time. The actress and the tennis player have been a couple since 1993 and were also married from 1997 to 1999.
After separating from Agassi, Brooke Shields married screenwriter Chris Henchy (59), with whom she has two daughters. Agassi met colleague Steffi Graf (53) a few years later.
The interview with the New Yorker came as part of the release of the documentary Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields, which premieres April 3 on Hulu. In the documentary, the actress talks about how she was sexualized as a child.
Her mother Teri Shields (1933-2012) let her pose naked for “Playboy” at the age of ten. A year later, Brooke Shields played a child prostitute in “Pretty Baby”, and here she also had to undress. In 1980, Brooke Shields became a teen idol with the no less revealing film “The Blue Lagoon”.
