In Great Britain, the king of the jungle could become a queen this year. Because the British cult singer Boy George (61) is a candidate for the latest season of “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” and revealed to Britain’s Daily Mail: “I’m going to be a queen honey” before adding: “It’s damn time for a gay man to win”.
The Culture Club singer, famous for his androgynous performances, also confirmed that he received the highest fee from all participants in this year’s British jungle camp. It should be 500,000 pounds, the equivalent of around 570,000 euros.
The musician, who became known among other things with the timeless hit “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me”, also vowed to be Boy George as much as possible in the jungle show and thus live up to his eccentric reputation. “Listen, I don’t think you should be on a show like this unless you want to do your best,” George said. “I never go on stage thinking I’ll give a half-hearted performance.”
George himself revised the famous jungle gap, as he also revealed. The Culture Club singer added red dots to the olive green khaki shirt. This is shown by pictures in the “Daily Mail”. He did not ask the production for permission in advance. “I didn’t think I was going to get away with it,” George said. However, he does not yet know whether he will actually be allowed to wear his modified shirt in the camp.
To stay sane, George will also practice yoga and chant in the Australian bush. He then hired his co-campers before the start of the show. “I know it’s going to upset some people, so hopefully I can find a place where I can do that,” George said. Other prominent participants in the British jungle camp this year are Matt Hancock (44), a former UK health minister, and Mike Tindall (44), the first royal on the ITV show. Tindall is the husband of the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall (41), daughter of Princess Anne (72).
