Australia’s pop queen Kylie Minogue (54) made a rare appearance with her sister in Sydney. Dannii Minogue, three years her junior and also known as a singer and actress, especially in her native Australia, joined her on stage at the WorldPride concert on Friday night. The sisters sang together in matching lace outfits in blue and pink. British singer Charli XCX and Australian Jessica Mauboy also performed.

The concert was a culmination of around 300 events such as films, exhibitions, drag shows and parades celebrating diversity and acceptance. WorldPride is the most important festival of the year for the global LGBTQIA community. LGBTQIA is the abbreviation for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex, queer and asexual community, which expressly also includes other sexual minorities.

The festival is now being celebrated for the eighth time. It was first organized in Rome in 2000. With the metropolis of Sydney, it is rising for the first time in a city in the southern hemisphere. For the heart of WorldPride, the Mardi Gras parade, tens of thousands of participants are expected on Saturday to accompany the sometimes flashy floats on their way down the promenade of Oxford Street. The festival will conclude with a “Pride March” over the world-famous Harbor Bridge on March 5th.
