British actor Tom Wilkinson (“Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”) has died at the age of 75. The PA news agency reported this on Saturday.
The actor, who was born in Leeds, England and was nominated for an Oscar twice, has appeared in numerous film and television productions. Among other things, he played supporting roles in the films “Shakespeare in Love”, “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”, “Batman Begins” and “Grand Budapest Hotel”.
PA quoted a statement from Wilkinson’s agent: “It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announces that he died suddenly at his home on December 30. His wife and family were with him.”
In Great Britain, Wilkinson was best known for the comedy “The Full Monty”. The 1997 film is about a group of men trying to make a living by putting on a striptease show.
