After a four-year break on the big screen: Arnold Schwarzenegger (75) returns to his cinema roots as an action hero. According to “Deadline” he will soon be seen in the thriller “Breakout”. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year in Eastern Europe.

The story of “Breakout” sounds like one of the straight-forward action flicks that made Schwarzenegger a star. He embodies a man named Terry Reynolds. His stepson is wrongly sentenced to 25 years in prison in a foreign country. Reynolds plans a breakout. He has to fight against an overzealous prison warden in order to be able to leave the country with his stepson.

The director of “Breakout” also promises old-fashioned action cinema. Scott Waugh (53), for example, adapted the video racing game “Need for Speed” as a horsepower spectacle in the style of “Fast

Arnold Schwarzenegger was last seen in cinemas in 2019. In “Terminator: Dark Fate” he once again played the combat robot with which he finally became a star in 1984. Since then, the Austrian has devoted himself to other formats, which often allude ironically to his image.
