Andrea Berg (56) has fulfilled her mother Helga (78) the greatest wish of her heart. Together with Berg’s daughter Lena-Marie (24), the two women traveled to Africa. The pop singer told the “Bild” newspaper about her adventure vacation.

The singer’s mother recently recovered from a serious illness. Andrea Berg was worried about her because of the arduous journey, but the ten-day safari trip was her mother’s greatest wish. “My mom used walking sticks for the running routes,” assured Andrea Berg. During the journey, the 78-year-old blossomed more and more. “Experiencing her like this was the greatest gift for Lena and me,” said Andrea Berg.

The singer continued to rave: “What we have experienced are memories for life.” Each of the three women only had two trousers and two safari blouses in their backpack. “We were one with nature,” she said. The trio stayed in tented lodges and showered outdoors. During their trip, they saw Africa’s wildlife in all its glory: “We felt like someone had opened the doors of Noah’s Ark and released all the animals: elephants, zebras, giraffes, hippos, antelopes, monkeys.”

From Johannesburg we headed inland, then to the Zambezi River and through the rapids into the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. Next up for Helga is a trip around the world. “That was just the beginning,” she said to Andrea Berg.
