The 72 hours that actress Amanda Bynes (37) can be held in a psychiatric facility after her arrest last weekend are over. But after the obligatory forced stay of three days, the local people seem to have come to the conclusion that the former Nickelodeon child star cannot yet be allowed back into society. According to the US site “TMZ”, the decision was made that Bynes had to spend at least another week in the facility.
With the extended period, they want to ensure that the star is psychologically stabilized with the right medication and additional therapy sessions. According to the report, the actress suffered another mental breakdown after apparently stopping taking her prescribed medication on her own initiative.
The arrest by the Los Angeles police last weekend came about because the officers considered Bynes to be a “danger to themselves and others”. “TMZ” published pictures showing the 37-year-old being handcuffed into a police car.
Bynes had just left a psychiatric facility two months ago. On March 19, 2023, the actress was picked up naked on the street and taken into medical care. At the time, she had approached a driver and told him that she had just come down from a psychosis. Then she called 911 herself.
Amanda Bynes was under her parents’ guardianship between 2013 and 2022. According to her own statement, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. After the end of the guardianship, she is said to have been fine at first.
