Duchess Meghan (41) defends herself again against media reporting. The Telegraph recently reported that she had written a letter to King Charles III. (74), expressing concerns about “unconscious bias” within the royal family. According to the report, this also played a role in their decision not to attend the coronation on May 6th. But Prince Harry’s wife (38) does not leave that uncommented – and described these claims as “false” and “ridiculous”.
A spokesman for the Duchess explained, according to CNN, that she “lives her life in the present and does not reflect on correspondence from two years ago that pertains to conversations from four years ago.” He went on to say, “Any other suggestion (regarding the letter) is false and frankly ridiculous.” They would also urge the tabloids and the various royal correspondents to “stop the tedious circus they are putting on.”
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan gave an explosive interview to US talk icon Oprah Winfrey (69) in spring 2021. In it, Meghan claimed there were “concerns and conversations within the royal family about how dark Archie’s skin might be when he’s born.” In the letter to Charles, she is said to have revealed the identity of the person in question and stated that the remark “was not made maliciously”. It is said to have been a reply to Charles’ letter in which he expressed sadness about the divisions within the family.
A source told Page Six that the matter affected her attendance at the coronation: “Yes, there was correspondence, there were letters between the Duchess of Sussex and the King. That was two years ago, it has nothing to do with her decision not to attend the coronation.”
Prince Harry will attend the coronation of King Charles III. attend in London on May 6th. His son Archie is celebrating his fourth birthday that day, which is probably why Duchess Meghan is staying at home in the United States.
