Alison Brie, 40, and Dave Franco, 37, walked the red carpet at the premiere of their new film ‘Somebody I Used to Know’ in Culver City, California on Wednesday (February 1). While he directed the romantic comedy, his wife served as the lead actress. What is it like working together as a couple? The two spoke to ET Online about this.

“She’s one of the greatest actresses of all time,” Franco gushed of his wife. “And she makes my job so easy. I don’t really have to say anything. She just makes me look good.” At the end of the day he could go home and have someone to talk to. “Someone to lean on when I’m freaking out,” he added. “It’s amazing. It’s overwhelming.”

Brie echoed her husband’s sentiments: “The emotional support is really nice. We just love being together.” Among the directors she works with, he is her favorite. “I trust him a lot,” she added. He knows her better than anyone. “So it’s very simple.”

In her new film, Somebody I Used to Know, out February 10 on Amazon Prime Video, Brie plays workaholic television producer Ally, who travels back to her hometown to meet her ex-boyfriend who is engaged. This experience throws her off course and Ally begins to question her life choices.

“We took some inspiration from our love of romantic comedy, especially the classics from the ’80s and ’90s that we watched as kids,” explained the actress, who co-wrote the screenplay with Franco. “We wanted to build on that nostalgia and then develop a new perspective on it.” In one scene – which can also be seen in the trailer – Brie strips naked to run around in nature. “We put it in the film because I love being naked so much. And it’s honestly liberating every time I do it,” Brie confessed on the red carpet.

James Franco’s little brother (44) and the actress have been married since 2017.
