Everywhere in France, the pandemic Covid-19 leaves traces in the vineyard as in the wine growers. Thus, in Gaillac, in the Tarn, the traditional event for wine-tourism of the year – the 42nd edition of wine festival – has been postponed to the summer of 2021. A hard blow for the local winemakers, the event bringing together each year, many wine lovers. However, no matter for women and men in the local market not to accommodate visitors as it should. In order to maintain a tourist activity in wine, Gaillac installs its open-air café on the banks of the Tarn river – on the dock of the Lido – and at the heart of the greenery of the parc Foucaud until 30 August next. On the menu ? Tasting of the many wines of the PDO gaillac, discovery of local products, concerts and meetings with the winemakers on site. In addition, throughout the summer, the cellars and domains of the appellation propose various activities in partnership with the Maison des vins de Gaillac : workshops with producers, visits to wineries, walks in the vineyards…

did you know : The vineyard of gaillac is known to be one of the oldest vineyards of France, the latter dating from the Fourth century before our era. Located in the South-West, the region of Gaillac has 3,500 ha in AOC red and white or 7 000 ha with the wines of the country. The vineyard, situated on the Tarn, around the town of Gaillac, to the west of Albi. For the past few years, the winemakers of the corner are refurbishing varieties old more or less disappeared, like braucol, the duras, of the prunelart or ondenc, to distinguish it from Bordeaux and develop tastes and wines with aromas originals.
