After the mega success of “Wednesday,” it’s no big surprise: Netflix is said to be planning the next series from the “Addams Family” universe. According to the business magazine “Bloomberg”, the streaming giant is thinking about a series about Uncle Fester. And according to “Bloomberg”, this is only the first of various projects related to the “Addams Family”.

Details about the spin-off of “Wednesday” are not yet known. According to “Bloomberg”, it is not even certain whether filming will take place at all. Ultimately, the schedule of all actors from the parent series would have to be coordinated. A second season of “Wednesday” is also being filmed.

“Wednesday” quickly became a cult phenomenon after its launch on November 23, 2022 – and the most successful English-language series in Netflix history. The streaming service ordered a second season as early as January 2023. The series by Tim Burton (65) was nominated for a Golden Globe for best comedy last year. Lead actress Jenna Ortega (21) was also nominated.

Uncle Fester has been one of the most popular Addams Family characters for decades. The horror clan, written by Charles Addams (1912-1988), first appeared as a cartoon in “The New Yorker” in the 1930s. In the first television series from the 1960s he is the uncle of Morticia Addams – in all other film adaptations or series versions he is the brother of Gomez Addams – and therefore the uncle of Wednesday.

“Back to the Future” star Christopher Lloyd (85) portrayed the bald eccentric in the films of the early 1990s. Comedian Fred Armisen (57) plays him in “Wednesday”.
