The US actor Jake Busey (51) will apparently take on one of the roles alongside Alec Baldwin (65) in the western “Rust”. According to a report by industry website Deadline, Busey is said to be taking on the role of Drum Parker. Filming for the film recently resumed in the US state of Montana after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins (1979-2021) was fatally injured while filming in October 2021.

Busey is known from films like “Starship Troopers”, “Contact” or “The Public Enemy No. 1”. He can also be seen in several episodes of the Netflix hit “Stranger Things”. Alongside him are Travis Fimmel (43), Jensen Ackles (45) and Frances Fisher (70). Directed by Joel Souza (49). The director worked with Baldwin on the story for the film.

Filming is expected to continue until the end of May. It is not yet known when the film will be released. Hutchins’ widower Matthew is now involved as one of the executive producers. A documentary about Hutchins’ life and the completion of the Western is also in the works.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was hit by a bullet from a gun during a rehearsal while filming in New Mexico and died from her injuries. Souza was also injured. Baldwin was preparing for a scene when he held the gun in the direction of the camerawoman and a shot was fired. The 65-year-old denied the blame for the incident and claimed not to have pulled the trigger.

According to investigations, the gun contained live ammunition. How this could happen has not yet been clarified. The responsible prosecutor’s office dropped a charge of involuntary manslaughter against Baldwin about a week ago.
