“Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney (25) has landed a new film role: The US actress will play the eponymous main character in a new “Barbarella” film from Sony Pictures. The film will be based on the comics of the same name by French artist Jean-Claude Forest (1930-1998), just like the 1968 science fiction film by French director Roger Vadim (1928-2000). It starred Jane Fonda (84 ) the titular heroine.

Her first husband, Roger Vadim, made Fonda a sex symbol with “Barbarella”. In the strip, which became a cult film, astronaut Barbarella travels through the galaxy in the year 40,000 and experiences numerous and above all erotic adventures. She is looking for a scientist whom she should stop from developing a dangerous weapon.

Sweeney seems very excited about her new role: “It’s time to save the universe,” the actress explains in an Instagram post, posting a picture of the comic book character she will embody. According to Deadline, the 25-year-old will also be on board as an executive producer. Apart from that, the film is still in development, an author or director should not have been found yet.
