At the founder and entrepreneur conference “Founder Summit 2022” in August, Dieter Bohlen spoke politically. He slandered the Greens. And he commented on the Ukraine war (the star reported). The chief juror of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” (DSDS) said about the sanctions against Russia: “If they hadn’t made these sanctions and you had sat down at a table sensibly, then people wouldn’t need to do all this frills. Now we have to freeze.” Bohlen did not say a word about the war of aggression and responsibility for it.
That brought him a fair amount of criticism – including from prominent political figures. Wladimir Klitschko asked on Twitter: “Do you, Dieter Bohlen, not care if people die here? Do you not care that Putin wants to destroy our country with rockets? Do you not care that we are experiencing genocide against everything Ukrainian?”
SPD leader Saskia Esken also found clear words for Bohlen’s statements on Twitter: “How morally depraved do you have to be to hide this terrible war for cheap applause, the fear and suffering and death it causes? And about freezing ‘and all the frippery’ that doesn’t affect him as the super-rich anyway?”
Dieter Bohlen, on the other hand, received encouragement from the AfD. Federal spokesman Tino Chrupalla wrote on Twitter that he represents the position of the AfD.
Now Dieter Bohlen has taken a stand. RTL he said: “I wish nothing more than for this war of aggression to end, so that the suffering in Ukraine comes to an end and we can all live in peace again. I am absolutely against war. I want the situation to de-escalate.” It is therefore wrong to assume that he has a political direction.
The station that broadcasts “DSDS” has also made a statement and refers to the numerous formats in which it has been reporting on the war since February. “Nobody can be indifferent to dying in Ukraine.” Independent information and committed help – that’s what RTL Germany stands for in this time of a terrible war.
