The Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon and his wife Crown Princess Mette-Marit are celebrating their upcoming 50th birthdays this summer with a party. On their wedding anniversary – August 25th – the two are throwing a “backyard party” at Oslo Castle, to which guests from all over Norway are to be invited. This emerged from a statement from the royal family on Thursday.
On the occasion of their milestone birthdays, they also want to make five trips through their country between February and June. “The five journeys together will become a narrative about different parts of our society – about old and new Norway, about who we are and what shaped us as a people,” the farm said.
Haakon will be 50 on July 20th, Mette-Marit a month later on August 19th. The two tied the knot on August 25, 2001. They have two children together – Hereditary Princess Ingrid Alexandra (19) and Prince Sverre Magnus (17). Mette-Marit also has another son, Marius Borg Høiby (26).
