Kida Ramadan became a star with “4 Blocks”, for his role in the series he received both the German TV Award and the Grimme Award. The comedy series “German Genius” has just started on Sky, in which the 46-year-old plays himself and caricatures the acting business together with many other German film stars.

Sounds like the career is going like clockwork – but not everything seems to be rosy at Kida Ramadan. The actor surprisingly announced a break in an Instagram post. Ramadan writes that he has worked “nonstop on new projects” in recent years and has had many good experiences in the process. “However, I forgot to look left and right and no longer perceived people, situations and feelings properly.”

That’s why the “4 Blocks” star wants to withdraw from the public for the time being. In his statement he hints at deeper mental problems: “I’m overworked and I’ve realized that I’m no longer the person I want to be,” he writes. During the break, he wanted to “quiet and honestly reflect”. How long this break should last, Ramadan does not reveal in his post.

In return, he states that he would also like to get help during this time. Literally, Ramadan talks about wanting “to be supported”: “I want to be a good role model for my children and everyone else. That’s why I will work hard on myself to come back stronger and create positive things together with you.”

Kida Ramadan has been in the film business since the early 2000s and had a meteoric rise with the success of “4 Blocks”, which also received international attention. In recent years, Ramadan has worked on numerous film and series productions – including the ARD series “Asbest”. In the film “No orange tree grows in Berlin” (2020), he not only took on the leading role, but was also responsible for the screenplay, direction and production.
