Actor Bjarne Mädel (45, “The Crime Scene Cleaner”) doesn’t believe in popular new methods of getting to know each other. “Speed dating would not be my path now,” said the Berliner to the German Press Agency in Hamburg. “I come from a generation in which people went to the pub for this – or to events like concerts and theater.” But he knows from his nephew, for example, that it is now apparently completely normal to have a relationship via portals or the app Tinder. “Where you actually want to go to bed together at first, but then maybe you say, we had a really good time. Then you just get to know each other,” said the cult actor, a little mockingly.

Mädel, who prefers to keep his own private life private, has reservations. “I find the quick ‘like – dislike’, ‘thumbs up – thumbs down’ of social media and speed dating to be extremely superficial,” said the 45-year-old. It may be effective at first – but in the end it may lead to even more loneliness.

The new “Sörensen” crime thriller with Mädel as the main actor and director is also about abysmal loss and desperate attempts to escape it. On Wednesday, October 18th, at 8:15 p.m., he will investigate for the second time as a corrupt inspector in East Frisia in “Sörensen Catches Fire” (ARD) based on the novel by Sven Stricker. Other contributors include Karoline Eichhorn, Michael Maertens and Joachim Meyerhoff.
