Aside from the fact that it can be very painful when you step on a Lego brick barefoot, the lack of parts to assemble an expensive set is a disaster. This makes it all the more important not only to put the Lego bricks out of the way after playing, but also to store them safely. Below we present five ideas on how to create more storage space in your child’s room. Alternatively, we’ll show you three Lego storage ideas for “big kids” (also called adults).
Not from the toy manufacturer itself, but in a matching Lego design, these stackable storage boxes from Greentainer come along. Each set contains two sizes (the picture is misleading): the model with the blue lid measures 36.4 x 24.2 x 16.4 centimeters and the model with the yellow lid measures 30.3 x 20.5 x 13 .4 centimeters. According to the manufacturer, the boxes are made of high-quality PP and are free of harmful ingredients.
This oversized minifigure head made of polypropylene from Room Copenhagen is not intended for playing, but is intended to safely store Lego bricks lying around: It holds a full 8.5 liters and therefore offers plenty of space, including for other objects. Fun fact: The Iconic Storage Head can be attached to other storage boxes – more specifically, the head is compatible with Lego Storage Bricks (one, two, four and eight).
This Lego storage from Bignosedeer combines two practical ideas: It is a play mat and storage bag in one. During the day, all the building blocks can be unpacked and distributed on the 1.5 meter large mat made of environmentally friendly materials – and when the children’s room needs to be tidied up, the bag simply has to be closed (in the truest sense of the meaning). And at the next opportunity to play, the carpet is rolled out again.
If you want to store your collection of Lego minifigures safely and dust-free, the display case is exactly the right thing: It contains 16 equal-sized compartments that offer enough space for an entire set. And so that they have a firm footing, real slots (gray building boards) were placed in them. It is available in two different colors – red and blue – and can be expanded with other display boxes from Lego.
This oversized Lego box is also a popular and stylish storage option for the well-known building blocks: it is available in over ten different colors – with one, four or eight studs. This means that the polypropylene stones can be combined very well with each other if you have several of them. The storage head from Lego (under point 2) can also be placed on it.
It’s no secret that adults also have a great passion for Lego sets. However, not everyone wants to put the colorful and child-friendly storage boxes in his or her room. For this reason, there are also neutral ways to store the building blocks – such as this organizer with 30 compartments. It contains three snap-lock boxes, three large and 24 small dividers for different compartment sizes.
This cabinet by Iris Ohyama offers even more space for your Lego collection: It contains five transparent drawers, each with a volume of seven liters in DIN A4 format. When empty, the product weighs 2.6 kilograms – making it easier to store. If this storage option is still too small for you, you can choose a larger cabinet with eight or even ten drawers.
These drawer wooden boxes from Lego in a detailed design are significantly more expensive to purchase, but are a real eye-catcher. According to the manufacturer (Room Copenhagen), each piece is made by hand from solid oak and veneer. For this reason, no two pieces are the same, as the structure and color are different for each box. The model is available with four and eight studs.
