A microphone throw last summer could cost 50 cents. A woman who is said to have been hit by the microphone and reportedly suffered permanent damage is now demanding compensation from the “In da Club” rapper. Several US media outlets report this unanimously.

Curtis Jackson (48), 50 Cent’s real name, is said to have thrown two apparently malfunctioning microphones off the stage during a performance in Los Angeles last August. One of the microphones is said to have hit Power 106 radio host Bryhana Monegain.

The woman had to be treated in the hospital at the time and is now suing the rapper, reports the US portal “Entertainment Tonight”, citing available court documents. Monegain was hit in the face and wrist. Among other things, she suffered a concussion, a laceration on her forehead and pain in her left wrist.

Monegain continues to suffer from the injuries and is subject to psychological stress. She is suing for damages that include, among other things, hospital costs, other medical costs and lost wages – past and future. Monegain had previously filed a criminal complaint with the police, but the responsible public prosecutor’s office announced several weeks ago that it would not be pressing charges.

An anonymous source told People magazine immediately after the incident: “This is an unfortunate isolated incident where someone was in an area where they shouldn’t have been.” The court documents now state that Monegain was allowed to be in the area.

Meanwhile, 50 Cent’s lawyer said in a statement in November that the incident was not intentional. His client would never intentionally hit or throw a microphone at a person: “Anyone who claims otherwise doesn’t have all the facts and is misinformed.”
