Milestone for Wigald Boning (56): On Monday the comedian went swimming for the 465th day in a row. He has already exceeded his original goal by 100 days. Boning uploaded video evidence of his action to his Instagram account – like every day. This time he went into Lake Ammersee in Bavaria with his wife Teresa. He has been married to the opera singer, who is 21 years his junior, since 2017, and their third child was born in March of this year.

Background: Wigald Boning had decided to go swimming every day for a year. In any weather, in rivers or in the sea. The entertainer has written a book about his experience. “Mr. Boning goes swimming: One year, 365 days of swimming and what I learned about swimming, life and great pike” will be published on November 2nd, 2023. The comedian is going on a reading tour with the book.

The self-confessed landlubber Boning apparently enjoyed overcoming his inner weaker self every day. He extended his experiment beyond the originally planned 365 days. There is no end in sight. “As long as it’s fun,” wrote Wigald Boning on Instagram a few days ago when a follower asked how long he wanted to do it.

The bathing challenge is not the first extreme challenge that Wigald Boning has faced. He had been running a marathon every week for a year, sometimes in Crocs, sometimes on a balcony in a mountain hut or on a treadmill at home. Boning also wrote a book about it. “Run, Wigald, run” was published in 2022.

Starting in the summer of 2015, Wigald Boning slept outside in a tent every night for six months, whether at home in the garden or on the road. A book was also written about these experiences.
