Swiss spokeswoman Sonja Ptassek confirmed to Radio Energy that the machine could not start due to a technical defect. Of the flight cancellation, around 300 passengers were affected. They had to spend the night in Nairobi, respectively, Dar-es-Salaam.
The broken aircraft of the type Airbus A330-343 is still in Nairobi and will be checked by technicians of the Swiss. The further procedure depends on the outcome of the investigation.
