at the same time, says the prosecution, however, that there is nothing to suggest that there have been errors in specific cases.
The new guidelines will be drawn up in the light of the recent discussion on the use of dna evidence in criminal cases.
It arose in the light of a case from Copenhagen, where a person was charged on the basis of a match in the dna-register based on ten dna systems.
But the police had subsequently made an additional dna analysis, which was based on the 16 dna systems, and the spoken against, that the person was guilty.
the attorney general also has the knowledge of one further case from the east Jutland Police, where the same issue applies.
– There is no evidence to suggest that there have been mistakes in individual cases, and there is nothing that suggests that the ten dna systems has been attributed to the wrong probative value in court.
– But the debate has shown that there is a need for a comprehensive set of guidelines for how we work with dna in criminal cases, says attorney-general Rasmus Kieffer-Kristensen in the press release.
In the preparation of the new guidelines will the attorney general withdraw of counsel and retsgenetiske experts. The courts are also given the opportunity to comment on the guidelines.
It is planned that the new guidelines will address the general issues, in which the justice system must be aware of, when dna is used in investigations and as evidence in criminal proceedings.
Police will, at the same time clarify the police guidance on the area.
The new guidelines will probably be ready in the beginning of the new year.
