The Teacher, a gritty new drama on Channel 5, follows BAFTA winner Sheridan Smith, a schoolteacher accused of having sex with one of her students but who has no recollection of that night.
This sure to be a hit show will explore the dark side being a teacher, as Smith’s character Jenna Garvey deals with her emotional troubled side and her alcohol use.
Smith spoke out about the role and said it would make viewers feel “incredibly uncomfortable” while they follow the story full of twists, turns, and surprises.

When will The Teacher appear on TV?
Channel 5 will air The Teacher’s first episode at 9pm Monday 31 January.
There will be four episodes total, which will air weekly on the same channel.
The Teacher Cast:
Star-studded cast of The Teacher includes Sheridan Smith as Jenna, teacher and Ackley Bridge star Samuel Bottomley as Kyle Hope, 15-year-old.
Kelvin Fletcher, known for his roles in Emmerdale & Death in Paradise, will play Jack as a colleague of Jenna.
Sharon Rooney, of My Mad Fat Diary fame and Finding Alice fame, will play Nina while Cecilia Noble will play Pauline Booth.
The Teacher will also feature David Fleeshman (“It’s a sin”), Ian Puleston Davis (Tin Star), and Sarah Jane Potts (“Waterloo Road”)
