So, like, there’s this whole thing goin’ on with Southeast Asian immigrants in Los Angeles and Orange counties, right? They’ve had their deportation orders on hold for, like, forever, but now they’re gettin’ detained and deported after their check-ins with ICE. Apparently, Trump’s administration is all about increasing deportations.

So, basically, if these immigrants committed a crime after they got to the U.S., they could be deported after they finish their time in jail. But, like, ICE never really followed through with that because their home countries don’t recognize them anymore. So, they just had to check in with ICE every now and then to show they were workin’ and stayin’ out of trouble.

But now, people are freakin’ out about these check-ins. They wanna follow the rules and all, but they’re scared of what might happen. And, like, some people have already been detained or deported after their check-ins. It’s really messin’ with their families and communities.

So, there’s a lot of Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Laotian folks in these counties who came here as kids and didn’t have the support they needed. Some got mixed up with gangs and ended up in trouble. But, lots of ’em served their time, got jobs, and settled down.

Now, though, there’s this whole new thing happenin’ where people are gettin’ ordered to leave within 60 days. It’s all part of Trump’s plan to deport as many people as possible. And, like, nobody really knows why some are bein’ targeted while others aren’t.

The Department of Homeland Security isn’t sayin’ much about this whole situation, but some think it has to do with Trump’s threats of tariffs. Either way, there’s a lot of families worried about what’s gonna happen next.
